{I want to ride a bicycle}

Progress in the cycling department with my son has been slow to say the least.

We were gifted an amazing red bike from Dale's Cycles in Glasgow in June. It's now 3 months since we collected said bike, and my son still isn't confident riding it. He's very cautious and will cycle holding onto the brake so that he doesn't go too fast.

I'm probably partly to blame because we don't practice enough. He's with his dad half the week, and then when I do have the kids we've generally got things on... school, swimming lessons, classes, catching up with friends... so cycling is low on my agenda.

However, when we were in Aberdeenshire last month sans children, we went for a bike ride and I really enjoyed it. I don't currently own a bike, and I think if my son saw me cycling then perhaps he'd be more inclined to cycle himself. So this is now going onto my wishlist... a grown-up bicycle for me. And then I guess I need to get the littlest one too otherwise she'll never keep up with us. I'm imagining family trips to the park, us all on our bikes. Perhaps with a wee picnic in tow... Trust me to have this inspiration when the weather is turning though!!

Anyway, Katy Hill has a great YouTube tutorial on teaching your child to ride a bike. I just need to set aside some time to try it out. Fingers crossed I can get my son cycling soon!

Not great quality, but here's me aged 9 with my red BMX for #throwbackthursday.
This was when we lived in the Middle East :-)

{Throwback Thursday}

This is me, aged 2-ish holding my striped bunny rabbit doll that my little sister gave me when she was born. I loved my bunny rabbit.

Here I am with it, nearly 30 years later:

As you can see, it's been well loved. It's grubby and has holes under the arms (which have been stuffed with tissue paper and re-sewn, badly!). But I still love it!

What was your favourite childhood toy and do you still have it?

{Throwback Thursday}

I've always loved being the hostess and throwing parties. I'm thinking about having a drinks thing as a house cooling once it sells, but goodness knows when that may be!

Anyway, here I am, aged about 6 perhaps, dressed as a waitress for a fancy dress party. My dad made me a tray with plastic cups that were coloured in to make them look like they had liquid inside and we stuck in some straws! My mum sewed the hair piece and apron. Aww!

I give you permission to laugh... a lot...

Here is my fifth year school photograph.

Oh. My. Word.

I'm mortified & slightly amused. Thankfully I have improved with age (I hope!).

{Throwback Thursday}

Last week we were on 'holiday' at my aunt & uncle's holiday home in Aberdeenshire. I use the term 'holiday' loosely as it wasn't much of a holiday for me! The kids had a great time though. We try and go each year, and for this weeks Throwback Thursday I've got two photographs of my daughter in the garden at the holiday house. The photos are only a year apart, but what a difference a year makes!!

June 2013 - a proper little lady, aged 26 months:

{Throwback Thursday}

The other week I wore this pair of khaki coloured cropped trousers from TopShop:

The trousers are at least 10 years old and I'm amazed that I can now fit back into them! I dug out an old photograph of me wearing them... I reckon that I'm 20 or 21 years old!!!
