Mother's Day - Jewellery Gift Ideas

It's Mother's Day on Sunday this weekend and if you're still looking for a special gift for your mum, then look no further.

I'm going to be honest here - I'm not a huge jewellery wearer, and don't tend to wear jewellery every day other than my watch. It isn't something I'd typically buy for myself, but this makes it extra special when I receive a piece as a gift. I am making more of an effort to wear jewellery on a day-to-day basis rather than just on special occasions - why save something you love just for special occasions? I don't know how I got into this mentality; probably the fear of damaging expensive and delicate items. But no-one will benefit from the beauty of them if they're tucked up in a box never to be seen! My sister got me a gorgeous sweetie bracelet from Links of London for my 30th birthday and I have little charms attached with the kids fingerprints. I absolutely love it. I also have another Links of London bracelet, this time from Rick, and it's a mixture of silver and rose gold. However I'm reluctant to wear them day-to-day and as a result they rarely get worn. Another set back is my littlest, who is obsessed with all things sparkly. If she saw my jewellery collection then she'd probably want to claim it for herself! Anyway, I digress...my point was that I despite me not wearing much jewellery, I do think that a well chosen piece can make an ideal gift.

I was sent a gorgeous pair of rose gold earrings from Chisholm Hunter to celebrate Mother's Day and they are just beautiful - I'm feeling very lucky. Here was me thinking I'd be buying my own Mother's Day gift! They will be perfect teamed with my rose gold bracelet. I've been drawn to rose gold lately, not only for jewellery but also home accessories. Definitely on trend right now.

Chisholm Hunter have a variety of jewellery gifts that are just perfect for Mother's Day. You'll find the boutiques in Glasgow's Argyle Arcade, The Fort and Silverburn shopping centre or online at www.chisholmhunter.co.uk. There are a variety of options at various price points, this heart charm is great value:

If you want to push the boat out, you also can't go wrong with a watch in my opinion - I'm sure most mums would happily receive this gorgeous Michael Kors Rose Gold plated timepiece:

Michael Kors watch, £259 (available for express delivery)

Gift Ideas - Mother's Day

I think that breakfast in bed and a hand made card would be utterly perfect on Mother's Day (especially if a long lie is thrown in the mix!), but if you do want to buy something, then here are some ideas for gifts.

Personalised travel mug from Snapdragon, £15

I was sent this fantastic travel mug from Snapdragon...

This would make the most perfect Mother's Day gift, and I think it's great value for money for a truly unique gift. The mug can be personalised in three ways... the hot drink, the name and the alcoholic drink can all be chosen specifically to suit the recipient.

There are also loads of other ideas for Mother's Day gifts at Snapdragon, such as handbag mirrors with personalised embroidered pouches (from £8), Mother's Day quote mugs (£15) and personalised notebooks (£6.50).

Bracelet by Lily Belle, £49

There are some absolutely gorgeous personalised jewellery items over at Not On the High Street, such as this nude leather and rose gold wrap bracelet from Lily Belle.

Personalised Family Illustration by PrintableWallStory on etsy, from approx £40

I've seen a number of illustrated family prints on the internet and I think this would be such a thoughtful gift for Mother's Day.

If you are looking for some more ideas, then there's also my Christmas Gift Guide for the ladies which has some suggestions that would also work for Mother's Day... perfume, make-up etc.

{Mother's Day}

On Sunday (30th March) it will be Mother's Day. It's always a bittersweet day - I love being a mother to my little kiddies, but I miss my own mum loads.

Anyway, I was sent a lovely parcel from @licensetopr with some Maw Broon's Home & Kitchen goodies.

Perfect Mother's Day gift I reckon!

I grew up absolutely loving Oor Wullie and The Broons. My sister and I have tonnes of their annuals which we were given each Christmas for years and years.

In a fab jute shopper I found a variety of goodies, including this Tea Cosy. I've had a tea cosy on my wishlist for a while now, so this one is ideal!

Tea Cosy, £9

And of course what do you need to go along with a Tea Cosy... tea of course! Also in the parcel was some Maw Broon's Afternoon Tea bags, some shortbread (which was delightful!) and some fudge (which was wolfed by myself in under an hour... definitely a good sign!!). We also had a pack of Caramel Shortcake to enjoy - 3 in a packet which was perfect for the the two kids and myself! The tins that the goodies are packaged in are just brill (my favourites are the shortbread tin in the top picture and the teabag tin, see below) and I'll need to make space for them on my kitchen shelving! The last item was a cookery book, Cooking with Bairns which has over 40 recipes and step-by-step instructions. We're excited to give them a whirl :-) If you're looking for a gift for Mother's Day then be sure to check this range out. I think the cookery book would make an ideal gift for friends that are parents that either aren't Scottish or that no longer live in Scotland (like my friend Ailsa, Perth Mummy).

Littlest demanding we try the biscuits!

Mmmmmm!!!

P.S. I have a channel now on YouTube and so far I only have a couple of subscribers. Head on over and show me some love? Thanks!!

{Happy Mother's Day}

This is a horrendous photograph... but here I am having morning snuggles with my babies. My son comes into my room most mornings at 6 - 6.30am, puts the bedside light on and comes round to see me... 'snuggles in mummy's bed?' he asks as he attempts to climb in. I can't resist, and so at the moment the routine is milk and Alphablocks in bed before making our way downstairs for breakfast.

You'll notice that he still has a dummy, which he has for bedtime only, and he still has his milk in a bottle. But I'm not so concerned about these things... he's just 2 and a half. If he's not grown out of them by 3 years old then I'll make efforts to remove the dummy and make the move to a cup.

Anyway, Happy Mother's Day to you all.

It's also a sad day for me as I remember my own mum. It's been 10 years now, nearly 11 years now that I think about it, since she passed away and I still miss her everyday.
