{January Joy - 15th Jan}

Today's #JanuaryJoy prompt is to 'read a new book'.

Like my music, my reading material has always been a bit uninspired. Don't get me wrong, I do love to read, but over the past few years I've rarely had the time. I will admit that I read the 50 shades trilogy, and I'm currently trying to read a self-help book called 'Just Get On With It' however this book has been on my bedside table since February last year... progress is slow!!

I'm still to finish the other books that I purchased earlier last year and have ended up dipping in and out of them when I find a moment to myself. I did finish 'Why Men Love Bitches' and 'Act like a lady, think like a man' but I'm not sure that I actually learnt anything from them. One of the take home messages I can remember was that men cheat because they can with the main reason being that there are willing women out there.

Anyway, if I manage to get on a holiday this year, then hopefully I'll have time to put my feet up and finish a book. I have all these images in my head of me snuggled up by a fire, cup of tea glass of wine in hand engrossed in a good book (so much so that it's on my 35 at 35 list) but I've still not managed to actually do it.

So over to you, if I read one book this year, what should it be?

  1. Stranger in a strange land, by Robert henlein. EVERYBODY should read this at least once in their lives.

  2. 5 people you meet in heaven AND the end of your life book club!!! Both have quite depressing sounding precises but are the most most inspirational books I have ever read. You'll not need 'self help' books after these. Very life affirming. I'd love to know if you like! You'll need hankies. Makes you cry with sadness and happiness x
