The other evening I downloaded the app CocoPPa and followed the tutorial on Super Messy Supermommy blog to pretty up my iPhone home screen.

How fab is this!! Think it's safe to say I'm smitten ;-)

This week I am smitten with this tin that's shaped like a wedge of Victoria Sponge. I picked it up in Nuala Ashe on Kilmarnock Road. Isn't it adorable! The tin is 10 x 10 x 8cm and is £4.50.

{Smitten Saturday}

Yesterday evening Bex from The Olive Dragonfly & I went to Cup Tea Lounge in Glasgow City Centre (71 Renfield Street). It was the first time I'd been and I was suitably impressed. The interior of the tea lounge is gorgeous - very opulent - and the staff were lovely.

We had a smoked salmon sharing platter to share which was supposed to come with melba toast, but we swapped it for toasted flat breads and this was washed down with a delicious apple & ginger mojito. We also had a dessert - Tea, Cake & a Biscuit. Peach custard (in the teacup) with a peach shortbread and a mini peach Victoria sponge, served with ice cream. All for £9 each as part of an Itison deal.

I'll definitely be going back.

P.S. I have no idea what's happened to the layout of my photos - but for quickness I'm going ahead and publishing this post even though it looks a bit of a mess! I'll sort it later :-)

I'm so late with this week's Smitten Saturday post, so apologies!! I need to plan these better in advance!

Anyway, very quick post to share these uber cute girls wellie boots from Tu at Sainsburys. They have 25% off until the end of today too!! Wish they came in my size!!!

{Smitten Saturday}

Glasgow Mummy

This weekend I was at my friends Jenn & Peter's wedding in Durham. I met Jenn 13 years ago when we worked at a summer camp in America together as part of BUNAC. They're such a lovely couple - congratulations guys!

Anyway, there was a guest at the wedding who was wearing a fabulous outfit... a puffy floral print skirt teamed with a bright vest and a neon blazer.

My sister (@the_grey_house) has this fab coral blazer from TopShop which I love. I've worn it once before and it's a really versatile piece. Ali wears it all the time...

And so when I spotted this blazer in Wallis today I just had to buy it:

Plus, at the moment, the blazer is reduced from £40 to £32! Bonus!

The reason I was in Wallis was because of this recent post by Bex at The Olive Dragonfly...and I got a little carried away with their promotional discounts and ended up buying these items too... oops!!

This week I am smitten with Cath Tate Cards

witty, gritty, right on, switched on, political, ethical, sceptical, poetical and just plain funny

I've bought a few of these cards before from Felix & Oscar in the West End and Nuala Ashe in the Southside.

They're so funny and right up my street. I hope you like them too.

I'm off to a wedding next month and have bought this for the couple, well the groom really, who is a Facebook addict!

Applies to a number of my friends!!

Perfect for the man in your life?

This so applies to me - I get lost all the time even though I have sat nav!!

{Smitten Saturday, on a Sunday...oops!}

This week I am Smitten with BHS and their 'Millie' range for girls. How adorable is this concept... they have outfits for little girls, with a matching outfit for their doll!!!

It's not often that I'm in BHS (despite working in a BHS store when I was at school!) but I happened to walk through the one in the St Enoch Centre fairly recently and that's when I spotted the Millie range. There don't seem to be as many outfits available online as in store, so I suggest you pop in and have a browse.

I've not set up a linky this week, apologies...  but stick your Smitten Saturday link into the comments :-)

Promise to be on time next week!!

Glasgow Mummy

This week I'm smitten with my friend Kath. You'll have heard me mention her a few times, here and here, and she's just so lovely. I was over at her house last weekend and during my tour of her beautiful new house she showed me this:

I forget the name of this little girl, but Kath & her family sponsor her through World Vision, the world's largest international children's charity. Kath was telling me that her daughter talks to the girl in this little photograph and tells her stories about her day. I just think that's so thoughtful and is a great way to help children appreciate that there are little children out there in the world that don't have it as easy as we do. I think I might do the same here in the Glasgow Mummy house.

This week I am smitten with my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation.

I used to buy MAC foundation, but in an effort to cut my expenditure I decided to try a cheaper product. In steps Tanya Burr who has raved about this foundation for a wee while now. I put it to the top of my make-up wish list and I have to say I really like it. My dad's wife had asked what foundation I've been wearing as my skin was looking lovely and had a glow, so it's been noticed by others too. It's really easy to apply and I just use my fingers (I know, I really should invest in a brush). It lasts rather well and for the price I think it's good value.

I bought the foundation from Tesco and I managed to get it when there was a 3 for 2 offer running, so I bought the Rimmel Wake Me Up Under Eye Concealer and a Rimmel Bronzer too. Not as impressed with the under eye concealer, but I think I need something industrial to cover up all my sleepless nights!!

This week I am Smitten with the Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour.

We had never been before, but with Grandad & Nanny Jo visiting this weekend we thought we'd go to the Riverside Museum, have lunch & then check out the Tall Ship.

Entry to both museums is free. Superb!

The Tall Ship was brilliant. I had spotted that Becky had been there with Anna & George and that had prompted our visit.

My little ones had a great time investigating all the cabins, having a shot hoisting up bags of sugar in the lower decks, scrubbing the top deck and steering the ship too! My daughter even managed to ring the bell. There's also a very small soft play area and we could have stayed longer if we'd had time. I'd definitely recommend that you pay a visit when you're at the transport museum.

{Smitten Saturday}

Ever since a little girl I have been smitten with Osborne books. I vividly remember pouring over The Osborne Book of Knowledge which I was given when I was 5 years old in 1987. I still have the book to this day. My son & I like to look at all the animals & then find them on the world map.

The only think I'm not a fan of is their gender specific books. Why does my little girl need to have stickers of fairies and ponies, whilst my little boy has cars and knights? At the moment my son would probably rather have the fairies as he's rather obsessed with purple, pink & Disney princesses.

I do love the sticker books though, and came across this Doll's House sticker book in Edinburgh (if memory serves me right I bought it in the Dragonfly Gifts shop on Broughton Street).

The illustrations are just gorgeous & I have to admit I didn't want to use it with the children for fear of ruining it!!

This morning we had a little shot and under my supervision (!!) we stuck some of the stickers in place. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I think my daughter did too.

{Smitten Saturday}

Glasgow Mummy

My good friends Rhona and Dawn have introduced me to metafit this week - I'm not sure if smitten is the right word, but I'm definitely sold.

The 30 minute workout needs no kit, hardly any space and provides you with an intense workout in half the time, giving you the freedom to carry on with a busy lifestyle.

Ideal for a busy working mum like myself!

Apparently, during the half-hour session you can expect to burn around 150 calories, but if you work yourself hard enough then you'll continue to burn up to 500 calories in the following 24 hours.

Basically there's a quick warm up, then there are rounds of short high intensity exercises such as push-ups, planks, burpees (I hate them!) and squats with short rest periods between each round, followed by a cool down at the end.

It's hard work, but it's over so quickly that it's manageable and it's up to you how much you want to push yourself.

I've done a quick google and there are classes all over Glasgow; I think there are even outdoor classes at Bellahouston Park.

A very, very quick post for this week's Smitten Saturday.

I am absolutely loving the sunshine!!!

I don't own a tablet or a laptop, so I'm unable to blog from the garden :-( but here I am this morning enjoying some rays!

What are you Smitten with this week?

Clare is uber quick off the mark with her post this week and has shared a few pics of her sister's very cute guinea pig!

{Smitten Saturday - Father's Day}

Glasgow Mummy

It's nearly Father's Day... Sunday, June 16th. So I thought that it was a good idea to share a few Father's Day gift ideas with you as part of my Smitten Saturday blog hop. Please join in... (I'm practically begging I know, but I thought I might have had a few more takers by now!).

I recently popped (not sure I can say pop when I spent 30 minutes browsing - I blame #PostCircle!) into the new Paperchase on Buchanan Street and was amazed by the array of greetings cards they had on show. I am smitten!!!

I bought a card for my own dad and one for the kids to give to their daddy. There were some terribly amusing ones, but  I stuck to a more cutesy one instead to be on the safe side!!

Anyway, here are a few ideas for gifts...

For the gadget dad, how about this funky USB battleship from Notonthehighstreet:

My Bose sound dock has packed in and I've been having a scour for an alternative. This Panasonic wireless speaker with AirPlay seems too good to be true at just under £70. It's slimline design is really funky.

For men that like to experiment in the kitchen, I absolutely love this tea towel (again, from Notonthehighstreet)...

...and you could use it to wrap a nice bottle of wine, like so:

Any golfers? This sterling silver golf ball marker can be personalised:

Or visit Pinching Your Pennies here for this free Father's Day printable...

These alphabet initial cufflinks are also really stylish for the business minded dad:

I do think that a handmade gift is always thoughtful and this handprint idea could easily be made into a beautiful framed print or canvas.

I framed a drawing that I did of my dad when I was little and gave it to my dad as a Father of the Bride gift, which would work equally well for Father's Day.

Or why not just arrange to spend some quality time together? I love the idea of Movie Night Bingo and might try and make my own version that's more suitable for families with toddlers. Gather the troops, stick some popcorn in the microwave and get snuggled for a film. You could even arrange a wee prize for the winner? (I'm reckoning this would make a fun drinking game for a night-in too sans children!)

Final idea is a Dad Ticket Book, and you can get the free printable shown below from Nellie Design Blog here:

Do check out my older post too here which has some other fab ideas for Father's Day including some more handmade craft suggestions.

So tell me, what are you smitten with this week?
