{Bath-time}

The hours between 4.30pm and 7.30pm tend to be manic ones... even more so with the arrival of my daughter.

Tonight for the first time I bathed both little ones together.  It actually made things a lot easier (I had previously been bathing my son first and then waiting until he was tucked up in bed before bathing my daughter) as it meant that both little ones were in their beds for 7pm... bliss!

I've ordered a towelling bath support from John Lewis and I reckon this will make bath-time much easier.  The current bath support I'm using is plastic and she slips off it too easily. I really need to be holding her in the support, which then makes it difficult to wash my son and stop him from clambering all over the place in the bath on the search for more toys!

Once my son could sit we moved him into an Aqua Pod from Mothercare.  However, this bath support doesn't have sides to it, and it was possible for him to slouch over and slip through the open side.  A friend of mine has recommended another bath seat which I'm going to borrow from her when my daughter is older. It's a Saftey 1st Bath Seat and looks more secure for baby.

{Embarrassed}

So, I was at my personal trainer's house last night for a workout session, and she decided to get me to jog on the treadmill... Well, after having had 2 little ones my pelvic floor muscles aren't what they used to be, and yep, you've guessed it - I wet my pants.  I was mortified to say the least! How embarrassing! I'm so glad my trainer is a female and she was very nice about it all. Surely 29 is too young for Tena pads??

On a positive note, I lost 3lbs this week, bringing my total weight loss to 7lbs. I'm pleased with my progress so far...

{Crafty}

I've found so many great craft ideas for little ones on Pinterest, so I thought I would share a few here.

(this would make a great birthday card....Happ"Bee" Birthday)

Streamer rainbows from Mom's Crafty Space

I also came across a trendy smock in the new Vertbaudet catalogue, the boys version is pictured below, and it comes in at £13. This would be perfect for protecting your little ones clothing during craft projects.

{Tips for New Mums}

I wanted to try and pass on some of the things I have learned and mistakes I have made to those new mums out there... First post is going to be on some of the items you need to purchase - what to buy and what not to buy.

My first tip would be don't buy too many baby clothes.  You will be given so many as gifts that you won't need to purchase anything yourself. Of course you want to pick out a few items yourself (I got our son a little baby vest that said 'Dad's Pride & Joy' - very cute!) but I would try and not go OTT. I'd recommend to get a couple of vests and a couple of sleepsuits, and a going home outfit. You'll possibly also need a blanket for keeping baby warm on the trip home from hospital (I stupidly brought one of my son's blue blankets to the hospital for the birth of our second baby as I was convinced that we were having another boy, so our daughter was wrapped in blue for her first 24 hours! I don't know why I didn't pack the white one!?). For the sleepsuits I would pick ones with poppers down the front rather than ones that you need to pull over their head - it's much easier for those frantic middle of the night outfit changes as a result of vomit and/or poo!!

We bottle fed both of our babies, and so a steriliser was a must. For our son we used an electric steriliser from Mothercare. It was expensive (although it's currently in their sale!), leaked and is now in the bin!! I'm currently using a microwave steriliser (Tommee Tippee if you're interested, although it's Dr Brown bottles I use) and it's easy to clean, takes up minimal space (can be stored in the microwave when not in use) and was much cheaper to buy. You can pick these up at larger supermarkets.

Another of my purchases was a Moses basket. As my husband and I are both tall, I had wanted to make sure I got a decent sized one as I was expecting a large baby. In the end my son was just 4lbs 14ozs when he arrived and so the size of the basket wasn't really an issue! The basket was really handy for the first few months and I'm still using the same one for my daughter. Moses baskets and cribs very in price, but I was really impressed with the quality of my choice for the price (currently £35). I'm glad I didn't spend a fortune on one as it's likely you won't use it for long. My son was moved into his proper cot from about 12 weeks old (I'd just like to point out that this was against the health visitor recommendation and it is suggested that you keep your baby in your room with you until they are at least 6 months old). Some prams have breathable carry cots that are suitable for little ones to sleep in, so you may decide that you don't need a separate Moses basket.

{Birthday}

My son is turning two next month... I'm shocked at how quickly the time has gone. It seems like yesterday that he was born when I was making the countless trips to and from the Neonatal Unit at the hospital to visit him, desperate to take him home.

Anyway, I've been thinking of party ideas. For his first birthday we had a train / transportation themed gathering for a few of his friends (his favourite toy at that time was a Fisher Price train). This year I'm going to do the same - invite a few friends and their little ones over for tea & cakes. Ideas so far are: Teddy Bear Picnic, Superhero, Monster, Crayons or Rainbows (he LOVES colours, especially purple).  Pinterest has been great for organising my thoughts and ideas.  Here are a few inspirational images I've come across so far...

{Motivate}

So far so good... I've been on my new diet, or healthy eating plan, for a week and I have lost 2lbs in weight and my body fat percentage has also dropped. Phew! I was dreading my first weigh in with the Personal Trainer as I had been at Becky's wedding the day before (great day had by all I might add!) but I managed to stick to the diet for most of the week and despite having curry, creme brulee and the most delicious wedding cake I still managed to shift some of the flab!

My session with the Personal Trainer this week was tough. I've been given an exercise regimen for the week and have to continue with the diet (no bread, no pasta, no white rice...).  But I am determined to succeed...
